Mullen: The whole world now knows my son, Sean Mullen, was kidnapped for ransom three days ago. This is a recent photograph of him. Sean, if you're watching, we love you. And this [2 million dollars in cash], well this is what waits for the man that took him. This is your ransom. Two million dollars in unmarked bills, just like you wanted.
But this is as close as you'll ever get to it. You'll never see one dollar of this money, because no ransom will ever be paid for my son. Not one dime. Not one penny.
Instead, I'm offering this money as a reward on your head. Dead or alive, it doesn't matter. So, congratulations. You've just become a two million dollar lottery ticket, except the odds are much, much better. Do you know anyone that wouldn't turn you in for two million dollars? I don't think you do. I doubt it. So, wherever you go and whatever you do, this money will be tracking you down for all time.
And to insure that it does, to keep interest alive, I'm running a full-page add in every major newspaper, every Sunday for as long as it takes. But -- and this is your last chance -- you return my son, alive, uninjured, I'll withdraw the bounty. With any luck, you can simply disappear. Understand? You will never see this money. Not one dollar.
So, you still have a chance to do the right thing. If you don't, well, then, God be with you, because nobody else on this earth will be.
華萊士:sons of scotland... i am william wallace.
士兵乙:william wallace is 7 feet tall.
士兵:yeah, i’ve heard. he kills men by the hundreds, and if he were here, he’d consume the english with fireballs from his eyes and bolts of lightning from his arse.
i am william wallace and i see a whole army of my countrymen here in defiance of tyranny. you’ve come to fight as free men. and free men you are. what will you do with that freedom? will you fight?
眾士兵:- no! - no! no! - no!
士兵丙:against that? no! we will run, and we will live.
華萊士:aye? fight, and you may die. run, and you’ll live...at least awhile. and dying in your beds many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance to come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives, but they’ll never take our freedom!
ㄊ裁带B(niǎo)語(yǔ))
I don't have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It's a depression. Everybody's out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel's worth; banks are going bust; shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter; punks are running wild in the street, and there's nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there's no end to it.
We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat. And we sit watching our TVs while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that's the way it's supposed to be!
We all know things are bad -- worse than bad -- they're crazy.
It's like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don't go out any more. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we're living in is getting smaller, and all we say is, "Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials, and I won't say anything. Just leave us alone."
Well, I'm not going to leave you alone. I want you to get mad!
I don't want you to protest. I don't want you to riot. I don't want you to write to your Congressman, because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write. I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street. All I know is that first, you've got to get mad.
You've gotta say, "I'm a human being, goddammit! My life has value!"
So, I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window, open it, and stick your head out and yell,
"I'm as mad as hell,
and I'm not going to take this anymore!!"
Nash:Thank you.
I've always believed in numbers, in the equations and logics that lead to reason.
But after a lifetime of such pursuits, I ask, "What truly is logic? Who decides reason?"
My quest has taken me through the physical, the metaphysical, the delusional -- and back.
And I have made the most important discovery of my career, the most important discovery of my life. It is only in the mysterious equations of love that any logical reasons can be found.
I'm only here tonight because of you [his wife, Alicia].
You are the reason I am. You are all my reasons.
Thank you.
