the Old Man and the Sea
the Old Man and the Sea,a novel written by Ernest Hemingway, was published by Foreign Languages Pre in writer is one of the most famous American received the Pulitzer Prize in 1953 for The Old Man and the Sea and received the Nobel Prize in Literature in his later life, Hemingway suffered from increasing physical and mental July 1961, he committed suicide by shooting ’s distinctive writing style is characterized by economy and understatement and had a significant influence on the development of twentieth-century fiction writing.
the Old Man and the Sea is based on the true World War II, Hemingway moved to Cuba, met old fisherman Gregorio 1930, Hemingway by a ship in the storm, Fuentes rescued then, Hemingway and Fuentes forged a profound friendship, and often with 1936, Fuentes was far out to sea to catch a big fish and many things is a book about the old fisherman who lived alone in sea the 84 days with nothing,he caught a huge had never been seen and heard of for the old fish was at least two feet longer than his fish was very large, and dragging the boat drifted for two days and nights, the elderly was in a never suffered through a difficult test in these two days and two the fish
was stabbed and tied to the , it was unfortunate that some sharks suddenly turned up in returning, the elderly and the Shark had a desperate , the giant marlin was eaten up by
some bitter, the old people dragged home only a bare and a skeleton of
the injury, but he still be appreciated.
when I read “the senior fisherman think: Here to the seacoast
really was too near, perhaps could have a bigger fish in a farther place...”
I extremely admire this senior fisherman, because he by now already
projected on some fish, but he had not settled to the present situation, but
was approaches the bigger goal has a look us, usually
meets one slightly is difficult, we all complain will be the
motherland’s future, will be supposed to like this old person same mind
lofty aspiration, will even better pursue even better, the bigger goal.
when I read “the big marlin start fast to gather round the young
fishing boat hover, twined the cable on the mast, the old person right hand
lifted up high the steel fork, leapt the water surface in it the flash, did
utmost throws to its heart, one wail ended the big fish's life, it was static
floats on the water surface...”My heart also liked together the big stone
extremely admire old person that kind do not dread, the relentle
spirit, although knows the match strength is very strong, but he not
slightly flinches, but is welcomes difficultly because had this
kind of spirit, the senior fisherman only then achieved this life and death
contest also must study senior fisherman’s spirit in life, handles the matter does not fear the difficulty, only then can obtain succefully.
the novel eulogized the spirit which the senior fisherman I think we should learn from him in some begin with, we should never give up when faced with the fear and we make a decision to overcome and try our best to do something, I firmly believe that we will , Life itself is a kind of endle is the road long, difficult and full of ups and as long as our own tenaciously to a brave heart to meet the challenges of self-confidence, we will always be a real winner! What is more, I think the false beliefs about the weakne of the elderly can be turned around only if society looks much harder at their abilities and their must begin to see that although they may not have great physical strength, they still have a mind that is capable of many are many jobs that they can hold in the workplace and many things they can do to help society of which we, the younger generation, are not must realize that they have gone through many experiences that we have not and that they hold a vast amount of knowledge about the world around will come a time when one's age does not determine the value of one's life, but we can change that dream to reality only if we try.
Hemingway's legacy to American literature is his style: writers who
came after him emulated it or avoided his reputation was sealed with the publication of The Sun Also Rises, he became the spokesperson for the post-World War I generation, having established a style to aerts the legacy is that “he left stories and novels so starkly moving that some have become part of our cultural heritage.” In a 20xx speech at the John Library, Ruell Banks declared that he, like many male writers of his generation, was influenced by Hemingway's writing philosophy, style, and public , as early as the 1930s Hemingway’s style was parodied, and criticized as “l(fā)azy” within the context of the “American literary tradition.”
In a word, Hemingway is a good writer and the book The Old Man and the Sea is worth hope you will read this book and learn something useful from the old man.
老人與海英文讀后感2
The the old man and the seais a brief but meaningful story. After fishing nothing during the past 84 days, the old fisherman San Diego finally captured a salmon, which weight is over 1500 pounds. After a tough struggle, exactly, three days’ standoff, the old man eventually killed the big fish that came to surface because of being exhausted. However, on the way to harbor, the old man was attacked by many sharks who tracked after the smell of the dead salmon, what he still hold was only the bone of the big fish when he arrived at port.
It is said that the author, Ernest Hemingway who is a great American writer wrote the novel in only eight weeks, basing on one of his friend’s true experience. He created the figure of the old man which was later called by people “tough man” and showed his life attitude and spiritual world. The most well-known sentence of this novel and also the topic of it is that: “man is not made for defeat. A man can be destroyed but not defeated.” These words become belief of many readers.
In my opinion, the whole story is about a battle between an old man and the sea, both of which are considered to ha一ve symbolic meanings according to critics. The old man once was so energetic and strong but couldn’t get harvest from the sea. He used his old body and strong mind to fight against nature and challenge his fate. He did win a bit—he got the large fish, but he lost totally because he carried back only the skeleton of the fish with his hands bleeding. On the other hand, he had done all he could to fight against all unlucky things and didn’t lose his face. He beha一ved like a real man, a tough man.
It’s a tragic novel, but it’s also a heroic symphony. The poor old fisherman was regarded as a failure by other fishers as he had captured nothing during the past 84 days. When he fished that 1500-pound salmon, he determined to fight to death even though he knew clearly that the big fish was much stronger than him, and finally, he succeeded. But the ordeal was not to the end even he had succeeded in capturing the big fish. The salmon was bigger than his fishing-boat, he dad no choices but binding the fish to one side of his boat. During his way home, the dead salmon was attacked again and again by shakes followed after the smell of blood. He had to do everything he could do to protect his victory. Harpoon was taken away by a shark, he tied the knife on the oar to stick the shake; the knife was broken, he used short stick to fight against the shark; the short stick was lost, he fought with rudder···Nothing could destroy his volition though the fish was eaten by sharks. God seems to ha一ve no pity toward such a great old man; he dropped misfortunes on this poor old man time and time again. But the old San Diego never ga一ve in.
The old man’s story is not only a symbol of the relationship between human and nature, but also a symbol of the indestructible spirit of human. In reality, the old man was defeated, but in spirit, he was a winner. The spirit of tenacious fight of him suggested the dignity and perseverance of human people. Even a great successful person has some experience of frustration. There are various reasons of being failed, but even an insignificant failure is an unbearable strike. Going to sea, he would gain another hope of being successful. Maybe, the sinister life environment and the tenacity of life attitude is the reason that this composition is more and more attractive. Life itself is a kind of endless pursuit, just like the old man’s saying“human is not born to be failure, one could be ruined, but he could not be defeated.” These words remind me of the “Destiny symphony", in which Beethoven says that “I could be destroyed, but I couldn’t be conquered”。 They indicate the meaning of a hero, the meaning of life. Also, it’s what this story wants to tell people: human should face the failure bra一vely. From this respect, this book is not an allegory or a fairy tale, but a realistic works. What’s important in this story is not win but the value of a life. The old man dares to challenge the extremity and over the limit time and time again. What he brought to human is not only an attitude of confidence, but also a powerful strength of spirit.
The 【the old man and the sea】gives me a lot of revelation. What is failure? Failure is the bra一very to get up the courage to climb up when you fell down and to get the courage to climb up again when you fell again and never lose the hope of life and the dream of life. What is hero? Hero is the people who dare to face the frustration, dare to challenge the frustration and defeat the frustration and overcome oneself, they ha一ve the courage to achieve their dream, even they ha一ve failed many times.
What scary us is not the failure, but the weakness and giving in to the failure. Once you ha一ve surrendered, all your dreams will never come true. This thought also has a significant meaning to our realistic life. Life is like the old man’s fishing, even you are failed, but you will not lea一ve regret for life, because you ha一ve struggled and faced to the challenges bra一vely. We’ll be the winner of our life, and our life will be splendid because we ha一ve struggled with our dreams.
老人與海英文讀后感3
I read the old man and the sea, which shaped a classic tough image. A Cuban fisherman, named sandia, went out to fish alone and caught a giant marlin after 48 days. It was a big fish that the old man had never seen or heard of before his boat was two feet long. Big fish strength is big, dragging the boat drifted for two days and two nights, the old man has experienced in the past two days and two nights have never suffered tough test, finally put the big shark fin die, tied to the bow. At this time, however, encountered a shark, the old man and the shark dogfight, result the big marlin was shark ate up, old man finally dragged home only a pair of bare fish skeleton.
Man is strong, humanity itself has its own limit, but it is because of the old fisherman such person again and again to challenge the limits, beyond them, the limit of time and time again to expand, and the bigger challenge before the human. In fact, a hero like the old fisherman, sandia, is worthy of our respect, regardless of their success or failure. Because, he brings us the most noble self-confidence!
Life is an endless pursuit. It the road long, difficult and full of bumpy, but as long as their brave and tenacious with a confident heart to meet the challenge, he will always be a real winner!

the novel describes is nearly 60 year, when the fisherman fishing, senior alone in a big fish, actually not pull. senior fisherman socialization, after a fish that this is a big marlin, beyond your fishing several folding, though clearly hard to win, but don't give up. later in the big marlin wound bring some of the fish suspicious of sharks smell groups, but the old man still snatch food hope not give up, and finally emphasizes surround close, returned to the big fish, let the other fisherman fishing is admired.
when i read the "senior fisherman thought: here's coast is really too close, maybe there will be a bigger fish in further.。." i appreciate this senior fishermen, because now he has cast in some fish, but he still was not solved, the present situation, but very close to goals. look, we often encounter a slightly is difficult, we are complaining nonstop. in the future, we will be the motherland, so it should be the old ideas, will be more lofty aspiration, for a better, more goals.
when i read "the big marlin began to rapidly around the young fishing boats, cable suspension of mast twisting, old man exalted to the right hand of gangcha, leapt high flash, and the maximum throw it to heart, wail over fish, it is the life of the static static float on water.。.。.。" i also like the stone falls in together. i appreciate the old man do not fear, unremitting spirit power, although know this game is very strong, but he isn't popular flinches slightly, but more intractable. just because of this spirit, to finish the senior fishermen life and death of the competition. we must also learn advanced fisherman's spiritual life, do not fear the difficulty, the only thing that can succeed.
reading the big fish smells blood is the crowd, sharks swam grab food, the old man left, he can just twitching, with a stick with your right hand, mouth are permitted use of weapons to attack and defend the expelled the sharks. but the big fish eat meat has a most, but also his left hand charmingly criticized the work time is actually "time, i also subject to old optimism. in our life, some losses are inevitable, we should take an optimistic attitude toward to compute.
finally, through a youth novel looked for 18 feet of senior fishermen, describe the marlins up the fish hugeness, explained the senior fisherman is not difficult, more common.
the novel extol spirit senior fisherman fear hard and dangerous to fight, we will not like him, who can't satisfy the present situation, should actively, do anything is relentless, difficulty, may be welcome difficult never stop halfway. only in this way can we achieve greater success and victory.
老人與海英文讀后感5
When I was a middle school student, I’ve finished this book in Chinese. But when I read it in English,I really gain something new both in the way of expression and the spirit it shows to us.May be different ages to read the same book we will learn different things from it.At least, for my part, that is true.
Firstly,I would like to review some information about this book.Such as the background, major characters and the topic of it.
The Old Man and the Sea is a story by Ernest Hemingway, written in Cuba in 1951 and published in 1952. It was the last major work of fiction to be produced by Hemingway and published in his lifetime. One of his most famous works, it centers upon Santiago, an aging Cuban fisherman who struggles with a giant marlin far out in the Gulf Stream.
The Old Man and the Sea served to reinvigorate Hemingway's literary reputation and prompted a reexamination of his entire body of work. The novella was initially received with much popularity; it restored many readers' confidence in Hemingway's capability as an author. Its publisher, Scribner's, on an early dust jacket, called the novella a "new classic," and many critics favorably compared it with such works as William Faulkner's "The Bear" and Herman Melville's Moby-Dick.
This book gives me a deep impression especially the description about the man’s braveness and persistence.
In this book, in order to suggest the profundity of the old man’s sacrifice and the glory that derives from it, Hemingway purposefully likens Santiago to Christ, who, according to Christian theology, gave his life for the greater glory of humankind. Crucifixion imagery is the most noticeable way in which Hemingway creates the symbolic parallel between Santiago and Christ. When Santiago’s palms are first cut by his fishing line, the reader cannot help but think of Christ suffering his stigmata. Later, when the sharks arrive, Hemingway portrays the old man as a crucified martyr, saying that he makes a noise similar to that of a man having nails driven through his hands. Furthermore, the image of the old man struggling up the hill with his mast across his shoulders recalls Christ’s march toward Calvary. Even the position in which Santiago collapses on his bed—face down with his arms out straight and the palms of his hands up—brings to mind the image of Christ suffering on the cross. Hemingway employs these images in the final pages of the novella in order to link Santiago to Christ, who exemplified transcendence by turning loss into gain, defeat into triumph, and even death into renewed life.
The major characters in this book are also vivid and lively.
Santiago?,the old man of the novella’s title, Santiago is a Cuban fisherman who has had an extended run of bad luck. Despite his expertise, he has been unable to catch a fish for eighty-four days. He is humble, yet exhibits a justified pride in his abilities. His knowledge of the sea and its creatures, and of his craft, is unparalleled and helps him preserve a sense of hope regardless of circumstance.
The marlin?,Santiago hooks the marlin, which we learn at the end of the novella measures eighteen feet, on the first afternoon of his fishing expedition. Manolin?,a boy presumably in his adolescence, Manolin is Santiago’s apprentice and devoted attendant. The old man first took him out on a boat when he was merely five years old. Due to Santiago’s recent bad luck, Manolin’s parents have forced the boy to go out on a different fishing boat. Manolin, however, still cares deeply for the old man, to whom he continues to look as a mentor.
Joe DiMaggio, although DiMaggio never appears in the novel, he plays a significant role nonetheless. Santiago worships him as a model of strength and commitment, and his thoughts turn toward DiMaggio whenever he needs to reassure himself of his own strength. Perico ?,Perico, the reader assumes, owns the bodega in Santiago’s village. He never appears in the novel, but he serves an important role in the fisherman’s life by providing him with newspapers that report the baseball scores. This act establishes him as a kind man who helps the aging Santiago.
Martin, like Perico, Martin, a café owner in Santiago’s village, does not appear in the story. The reader learns of him through Manolin, who often goes to Martin for Santiago’s supper. As the old man says, Martin is a man of frequent kindness who deserves to be repaid.
From the very first paragraph, Santiago is characterized as someone struggling against defeat. He has gone eighty-four days without catching a fish—he will soon pass his own record of eighty-seven days. Almost as a reminder of Santiago’s struggle, the sail of his skiff resembles “the flag of permanent defeat.” But the old man refuses defeat at every turn: he resolves to sail out beyond the other fishermen to where the biggest fish promise to be. He lands the marlin, tying his record of eighty-seven days after a brutal three-day fight, and he continues to ward off sharks from stealing his prey, even though he knows the battle is useless.
Because Santiago is pitted against the creatures of the sea, some readers choose to view the tale as a chronicle of man’s battle against the natural world, but the novella is, more accurately, the story of man’s place within nature. Both Santiago and the marlin display qualities of pride, honor, and bravery, and both are subject to the same eternal law: they must kill or be killed. As Santiago reflects when he watches the weary warbler fly toward shore, where it will inevitably meet the hawk, the world is filled with predators, and no living thing can escape the inevitable struggle that will lead to its death. Santiago lives according to his own observation: “man is not made for defeat . . . [a] man can be destroyed but not defeated.” In Hemingway’s portrait of the world, death is inevitable, but the best men (and animals) will nonetheless refuse to give in to its power. Accordingly, man and fish will struggle to the death, just as hungry sharks will lay waste to an old man’s trophy catch.
The novel suggests that it is possible to transcend this natural law. In fact, the very inevitability of destruction creates the terms that allow a worthy man or beast to transcend it. It is precisely through the effort to battle the inevitable that a man can prove himself. Indeed, a man can prove this determination over and over through the worthiness of the opponents he chooses to face. Santiago finds the marlin worthy of a fight, just as he once found “the great negro of Cienfuegos” worthy. HSantiago, though destroyed at the end of the novella, is never defeated. Instead, he emerges as a hero. Santiago’s struggle does not enable him to change man’s place in the world. Rather, it enables him to meet his most dignified destiny.
While it is certainly true that Santiago’s eighty-four-day run of bad luck is an affront to his pride as a masterful fisherman, and that his attempt to bear out his skills by sailing far into the gulf waters leads to disaster, Hemingway does not condemn his protagonist for being full of pride. On the contrary, Santiago stands as proof that pride motivates men to greatness. Because the old man acknowledges that he killed the mighty marlin largely out of pride, and because his capture of the marlin leads in turn to his heroic transcendence of defeat, pride becomes the source of Santiago’s greatest strength. Without a ferocious sense of pride, that battle would never have been fought, or more likely, it would have been abandoned before the end.
Santiago’s pride also motivates his desire to transcend the destructive forces of nature. Throughout the novel, no matter how baleful his circumstances become, the old man exhibits an unflagging determination to catch the marlin and bring it to shore. When the first shark arrives, Santiago’s resolve is mentioned twice in the space of just a few paragraphs. Even if the old man had returned with the marlin intact, his moment of glory, like the marlin’s meat, would have been short-lived. The glory and honor Santiago accrues comes not from his battle itself but from his pride and determination to fight.
Santiago dreams his pleasant dream of the lions at play on the beaches of Africa three times. The first time is the night before he departs on his three-day fishing expedition, the second occurs when he sleeps on the boat for a few hours in the middle of his struggle with the marlin, and the third takes place at the very end of the book. In fact, the sober promise of the triumph and regeneration with which the novella closes is supported by the final image of the lions. Because Santiago associates the lions with his youth, the dream suggests the circular nature of life. Additionally, because Santiago imagines the lions, fierce predators, playing, his dream suggests a harmony between the opposing forces—life and death, love and hate, destruction and regeneration—of nature.
This book gives me courage of conquering all kinds of difficulties .And I have the belief that the most beautiful thing is the process that we make our best to achieve our dream, and never say give up .

Have you heard or readYes,it is one of Hemingway’s most enduring works. It is the story of an old Cuban fisherman went to the sea, fought with a giant marlin far out in the Gulf Stream. After a few of cruel fights ,he won. Though he was so beaten with the trip, he still full of brave. He was a hero.
is a famous book and it was awarded the 1954 Nobel Prize for Literature. There is a eminent sentence in the book—“But man is not made for defeat,” he said ,‘A man can be destroyed but not defeated.’
When I was a little girl, I was timid. In summer, I always went swimming with friends. We played happily and swam quickly. The border of the swimming pool is 1.2 metres deep, but the center is 1.8 metres. My friends were so brave to swim though the swimming pool but I was so afriad that I can’t .My friends told me it was only a little difficulties.‘ You must overcome it.There were more big difficulties in our lives and waiting we to slove . If we were afraid these little problem, how can we face to setback? So we must be brave and try our best to overcome the problems.’ After their words, I was full of courage. I did some ready exercise and tired to swim though. Finally, I succeed. We all felt excited and they celebrated to me. Yes, we should be brave and try out best to overcome difficult problems. We can’t give up easily.
We all know the big earthquake which had reached eight on the Richter scale in Wenchuan. It was a sad and shock earthquake. All things lay in ruins in a few seconds. The suffering of the people was extreme. There were many people been dead. Many people were wounded under the falling building.People felt painful but they were staunch. They waited rescue persons to save them. A 60-year-old woman , she was so great that she had insisted 196 hours. A pig,it had insisted 36 days. Many people were saved afters 4 days. They were all heros. They were brave and staunch,so they were still living. In this earthquake, we can realize the government’s strong responsibility and 1.3million people were united and kind. The people who injured showed the willpower and they were firm as the fishman.
is a good book.I learn many from the book.It teach me a person should be firm and brave in our live. We can’t be afraid and give up the difficultics. We must try our best to overcome the problems. We should trust ourself we can do it. Nothing is impossible.
老人與海英文讀后感7
After I read the book that is called “The old man and the sea” I was deeply moved by the old man and his spirit.
The book written by Hemingway tells us a story that an old man whose name is Santiago went out to do some fishing on the sea on his own but down on his luck he hadn’t caught any fish for 84 days. Next day he caught a huge marlin which is bigger than his boat and took a formidable battle with it. He beat it at the end. When he was on the way home the smells of blood of the marlin draw a lot of sharks’ attention and they fought for it. In order to protect the marlin and him theold man tried his best to fight with them. After a cruel fight he won it and cameback home tiredly. Although he only got a skeleton of the giant marlin at last he is also a great hero in many people’s heart.
In the article the old man is a great man. Although he failed for many time in his lifehe never gave up. He is a steel-willing man who insisted his dream and work hard. You can destroy him but you can’t beat him. Whatever he faced to he would never yield to the difficult which shows a strong spirit.
In our lives I think we should learn something from the old man which will make us have a more valuable life. Whenever and wherever we meet trouble we should never give up and try our best to overcome it. We should always keep on our dream and make it come true. Every one has his backbone which can’t be bended by anyone which is very important for everyone in his whole life. If we meet difficulty in our life we should face it bravely and work out some way to solve theproblem whatever would happen at last. We can be destroyed but we can’t bebeat by anything or anyone. If you failed for many times in your life you wouldn’t surrender because if you try to do it you may succeed in your life but if you do not do it you would not be succeed forever. Everyone has his advantages and disadvantages in his life but we should face to our disadvantages and we must beconfident which would also make us be confident of our life. We should have faith in what we do in our life we will have a more beautiful life in the future and our dream will come true. We should pay more attention to what we do during our liferather than what we will get at the end because I think it is more important than any thing you get finally. If you enjoy you life not something you get you will have a meaningful life and a noble spirit. It will hurt you when you pay more attention to what you get in the future. It will also make you do something wrong which is bad for other people our society and our country.
I’m impressed by the sentence which is “We can be destroyed but we can’t bebeat.” I think everyone should do it no matter what happen in our life. This book makes me know something I didn’t know in the past. The book and the old man have a great influence in my life. I love this book.

老人與海英文讀后感9
Recently I read the book "The Old Man and the Sea" written by Hemingway. Hemingway is a famous American novelist who won the Nobel Prize in Literature for x years. He is hailed as the "mental monument of the American nation and the founder of the "news style" novel. His strokes have always been known as the "hard man of the literary world." Hemingways writing style is known for its simplicity. It has a profound effect. This book inspired me deeply. The content of this book is: There used to be an old
fisherman named Santiago in Cuba. He hadnt caught fish for more than 80 days. That day he decided to go fishing far away, so he rowed a boat to catch fish before dawn. Fortunately, he saw a very rare "monster"-a two-meter long marlin. The old fisherman immediately picked up the rope on the boat and caught the marlin, but the fish dragged the boat for two days and two nights, and finally the marlin died from fatigue. The old fisherman was so happy that he jumped three feet high, and then used the power of nine cows and two tigers to drag the marlin to the bow. Just as the old fisherman was complacent, disaster struck him again: a group of fierce sharks was invading his "trophy". The old fisherman immediately picked up the harpoon to fight against the shark, but the marlin was still eaten by the shark. The old fisherman finally dragged home with only a bare fish skeleton. Although the old fisherman lost in the end, his spirit of perseverance and hard work never fails to touch and inspire me. As the music master Beethoven said, "I can be destroyed, but I cannot be conquered."
老人與海英文讀后感10
The book The Old Man and the Sea tells a story: Santiago, an old Cuban fisherman, failed to catch fish for 84 consecutive days and was regarded as a loser by other fishers. However, he persevered and finally caught a marlin. The marlin dragged his boat at sea for three days before he was exhausted. He was killed and tied to the side of the boat. He was repeatedly attacked by sharks on his return journey. He used all means to fight back. When he returned to Hong Kong, there were only fish head and tail and a spine. Although the fish were all bitten away, nothing could destroy his heroic will.
After reading this book, my heart could not be calm for a long time. This ordinary and respectable old man made me deeply understand that a man should not be subject to any difficulties, and should do his best to fight against the hardships in life unswervingly.
I know my own shortcomings. I no longer lose confidence in my study because of one or two failures, but the more I fail in the exam, the better I will do. In the future, no matter what difficulties I encounter, I will face them with confidence, persevere in the end and never shrink back. I would like to thank this book for letting me learn so much knowledge, for letting me know so much truth, for letting me know my shortcomings, and for correcting my shortcomings in time, so that I can become a useful person to society.

the Old Man and the Sea is one of Hemingway’s most enduring works and may very well become one of the true classics of this generation. It played a GREat part in his winning the Pulizer Prize in 1953 and the 1954 Novel Prize for Literature and confirmed his power and presence in the literary world.Hemingway is also one of my favorite writers.Besides The Old Man And the Sea, I have read some of his other works, such as The Sun Also Rises, A Farewell to Arms and The Snow of Kilimanijaro. But The Old Man and the Sea is the one that left the deepest impression on me.
I first read this book when I was in my fifteens. And now I remember it just as well as if I had read it yesterday.Pride and Prejudice is a chefdoeuvre.
My first impression of this story was from screen.
It’s long long ago, maybe before I can read english books.I don’t remember which movie edition I had seen. But I was impressed by the music, the scenery and the costume.I was very favor of a section of music in its balls. It’s pretty brisk, liked a wonderful song of a bird.Regarding to the characters, I liked Elizabeth, the heroine, though I didn’t think she’s beautiful. But she’s smart. However, I didn’t pay much attention to the plot.I thought it’s so long that it made me impatient and bored.By now, I haven’t read the whole story in English or its Chinese version, either.I owe it to my prejudice.
In fact, I didn’t understand the story at that time.I didn’t know why it called Pride and Prejudice.Of course someone was pride, but I didn’t find where’ s the prejudice.I thought it’s normal, the way people treated each other in that.I considered prejudice would be very disgusting. But to the movie everthing was OK in my minds, except its length. Now, I think I have understood more about it.I’m a prejudiced person so I can’t find where’s wrong.I merely like to do the things I like.Everytime I meet somebody or something,my thinking about he or it all depends on my foregone experience and my mood of the time.

This winter vacation I read a book called "The Old Man and the Sea". The story in the book is wonderful!
The most touching story in this book is that an old man in the book is always fishing alone on the sea, so he always keeps company with the fish. Once he caught a big fish, but on his way back, he met a group of sharks. The old man tried his best to fight with the shark, but he still couldn't beat the shark. The shark ate all the fish he could eat, but the old man dragged back only a big fish skeleton
After reading this story, I was deeply inspired. I think sometimes we are very similar to the old people in the story. As long as we have something to do, as mothers, we will definitely come forward.
This is maternal love. The greatness of maternal love lies in her selfless dedication and no return, just like an eagle catching a chicken, an eagle like a shark, a hen like an old man, and a chicken like a big fish. The eagle went to catch the chicks and hens and tried to protect their children against the eagle. Although the power of the hen is limited, it can't fight the eagle. But it also desperately protects its children.
Like the old man in the article, he protects the big fish from sharks. Although we failed to catch the big fish in the end, let's admire the old man's efforts and perseverance, which is worth learning from.
老人與海英文讀后感13
the Old Man and the Sea is one of Hemingway’s most enduring works and may very well become one of the true classics of this generation. It played a GREat part in his winning the Pulizer Prize in 1953 and the 1954 Novel Prize for Literature and confirmed his power and presence in the literary world. Hemingway is also one of my favorite writers. Besides The Old Man And the Sea, I have read some of his other works, such as The Sun Also Rises, A Farewell to Arms and The Snow of Kilimanijaro.
But The Old Man and the Sea is the one that left the deepest impression on me. I first read this book when I was in my fifteens. And now I remember it just as well as if I had read it yesterday. Pride and Prejudice is a chefdoeuvre. My first impression of this story was from screen. It’s long long ago, maybe before I can read english books. I don’t remember which movie edition I had seen. But I was impressed by the music, the scenery and the costume. I was very favor of a section of music in its balls. It’s pretty brisk, liked a wonderful song of a bird. Regarding to the characters, I liked Elizabeth, the heroine, though I didn’t think she’s beautiful. But she’s smart. However, I didn’t pay much attention to the plot. I thought it’s so long that it made me impatient and bored. By now, I haven’t read the whole story in English or its Chinese version, either.
I owe it to my prejudice. In fact, I didn’t understand the story at that time. I didn’t know why it called Pride and Prejudice. Of course someone was pride, but I didn’t find where’ s the prejudice. I thought it’s normal, the way people treated each other in that. I considered prejudice would be very disgusting. But to the movie everthing was OK in my minds, except its length. Now, I think I have understood more about it. I’m a prejudiced person so I can’t find where’s wrong. I merely like to do the things I like. Everytime I meet somebody or something,my thinking about he or it all depends on my foregone experience and my mood of the time.
老人與海英文讀后感14
I remember a great man who said in the past: "Only spiritual victory can move us, and weep for its sorrow." "The Old Man and the Sea" tells a story: Old Man Santiago is an experienced old fisherman in Cuba, he has a boyfriend Mallorin. Due to luck, he did not catch a fish for 84 consecutive days, and the child left the old man because of his parents and went to another fishing boat. But he still believed that the next time he would catch a big fish. Indeed, he succeeded.
After strenuous efforts and numerous failures, he finally defeated the big fish with amazing perseverance and caught a 18-foot-long marlin larger than his fishing boat. But the god of destiny still didnt seem to care for the other party. After he tried his best, he spent two days and two nights to catch this big fish. When he was about to return, the blood of the fish gave off a bloody smell but attracted groups of sharks. After exhausting all the sharks, he discovered that the 18-foot fish had been bitten to the point that there was only one spine... exhausted all the troubles, but only brought back a wreckage, and went through all the hardships, but left only one wound. But despite this, the old man still meets with the children to go fishing.
When I saw it, I burst into tears-what a respectable spirit! This article brought me sensory stimulation, but more reflection. Dare to ask if we have such a spirit after the 00s we have grown up with since childhood? With a little more homework, it is called bitterness; after a bit of frustration, it is depressed; even many adults are unable to do this! Writing there, as a young pioneer, I feel deeply ashamed and cant help but ask myself: Where is this good quality that should be kept for a long time? Hemingways ordinary old man San Diego made me feel this kind of quality that will never decay. At this moment, middle school students generally read some so-called "teenage popular books", but those real masterpieces are piled up in the bookcases at home.
There, I want to appeal to children all over the world: those “junior books” can’t bring you anything. When you are free, go over those masterpieces, that is the essence of thousands of years of cultural accumulation in the world! Others are just fleeting scenery, and only those classics are enduring!
老人與海英文讀后感15
Since reading this book, I know less than their own, not because of learning
one or two do not go well and lose confidence, but more test well, the more to be a good test. From now on, I do not care what kind of difficulties encountered, we must face with confidence, insisted in the end, and never flinched. I would like to thank the book, thanks to it so that I have learned so much knowledge, it let me know how to thank so many reason, let me know for its own lack of timely and
correct their own shortcomings, so that I become a socially useful people. Sharks may be seen as a blow to eat our success and happiness. But as the child said: "It does not beat you, it does not." A real strong, can only be destroyed can not be beat. Solely, which is "Old Man and the Sea" tells us.
