An Analysis of the Destructive Effects of Individualism in Martin Eden
Abstract
Martin Eden is one of masterpiece written by the American literary realism of the famous writer Jack London. This novel, with autobiographical novel, published in the literature writer’s golden era ideologically and has reached a very high achievement in the thinking and arts. This thesis analyzes the destructive effect of individualism in Martin Eden according to Jack London’s vivid description of his language and his subtle inner world, and Martin Eden’s short lifetime pursuit, struggles, setbacks and successes disillusionment. The basic reason of Martin Eden’s tragedy is deceptive, in the capitalist country that as a man of integrity who is difficult to realize their true value of life reality. And the author draws a conclusion that Martin, the tragedy of self-destruction is an inevitable ending after his ideal shattered. In other words, it is also the result of American Dream disillusionment.

摘 要
《馬丁伊登》是美國現(xiàn)實(shí)主義文學(xué)著名作家杰克倫敦的1部巨著。這部帶有自傳性質(zhì)的小說發(fā)表于作家文學(xué)創(chuàng)作的黃金時(shí)期,在思想上和藝術(shù)上都達(dá)到了相當(dāng)高的成就。本文根據(jù)杰克倫敦對(duì)主人公馬丁伊登語言、細(xì)膩的心理描寫，短暫1生的追求、奮斗、受挫、成功、幻滅,以及對(duì)資產(chǎn)階級(jí)文明的虛偽性和欺騙性的揭露,分析展示了馬丁伊登個(gè)人主義所帶來的毀滅性影響以及造成該悲劇的根本原因就是資本主義國家中有作為的`、正直的人是難以實(shí)現(xiàn)自己真正的人生價(jià)值的現(xiàn)實(shí)和資本主義制度下出版機(jī)構(gòu)的腐朽和人情世態(tài)的炎涼。得出馬丁自我毀滅的悲劇是他理想破滅后的必然結(jié)局,換句話說，也是“美國夢(mèng)想”幻滅的結(jié)果。
